Who we are
Cloak is a trading name of Custom Racewear Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11132127). Registered office: 20-22 Wenlock Rd, London N1 7GU. We are responsible for the personal information described here. To ask about it, send a request from help in your editor, or email hello@cloakweb.co.uk.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address.
- Your website: what you send us and add in the editor. For example the driver's name, age, class and story, results, photographs, videos, sponsors, social links, and a contact name, phone number and email.
- Payments: your plan, payment dates, and your card type and last four digits. Your full card details go straight to Square and never reach us.
- Messages: requests you send us from help, with any screenshots, and what you type into the help search when it finds nothing.
- Enquiries: if you contact Cloak using the form on a driver's website, your name, email, phone number and message.
- Newsletter and news: if you sign up on cloakweb.co.uk, or tick the box when you start your site, your first name, email and, if you agree to texts, your mobile number.
- Sign-in: a cookie that keeps you signed in, and a record of sign-in links we send.
Why we use it
- To build, run and host your website, and to take payment. We need this to provide what you signed up for.
- To email you about your account, your site, your requests and your payments.
- To keep Cloak secure and to improve our help answers. This is in our legitimate interests.
- To keep payment records, as the law requires.
- To send you Cloak news, tips and offers, only if you ticked the box to say yes. You can unsubscribe from any email, and every text tells you how to stop.
We do not sell your information, and we never send you marketing you did not agree to.
Young drivers
Many Cloak sites are about drivers under 18. These are set up and run by a parent or guardian. We only use a young driver's details to build the website you ask for.
Once your site is live, anyone can see it. Think about what you publish. For example, we suggest leaving out a home address or school.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run Cloak. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Cloudflare: hosting, storage and video.
- GitHub: stores your website's content.
- Square: payments.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Google: our email inbox.
- Spoks: sends our newsletter and news, if you agreed to it.
- Behold: shows your Instagram posts, if you use that.
- YouTube: plays your videos, if you add YouTube links.
Some of these providers store information outside the UK. Where they do, it is protected by safeguards approved under UK law.
How long we keep it
- Your website and account: while your account is open. If your site is archived (because a plan ended or was not paid, or a site you never finished was put on hold), we keep it for 12 months so you can restart, then delete it. We email you a month before. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
- Payment records: six years, as the law requires.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email.
- Photographs sent with requests: 120 days.
- Help searches that found nothing: 21 days.
- Sign-in links: 15 minutes. Signed-in sessions: 14 days.
